hearty consumption: ice cream, salmon burger, and mac and cheese.

Monday, August 8, 2011
I miss the days when the sun would shyly peep out and then suddenly come out fully to play. Three weeks later, the sun has retreated and dark clouds are forming. No more eating ice cream during this weather, well, no more eating ice cream outside (technically, one can blast on the heater and still eat lots of ice cream).

Salted Caramel + Roasted Banana (?)
The salted caramel had a bitter aftertaste which reminds me of Epsom salt. I don’t particularly like the taste of Epsom salt (I don’t know anyone that does like the taste), therefore I did not particularly enjoy the salted caramel portion of the ice cream. I did however enjoy the banana scoop (I do not remember if it was roasted banana or banana nut bread). It was the perfect amount of flavor and sweet-ness.

My “friend’s” two ice cream scoops (I am not sure what he ordered, but they were pretty safe flavors)

Mac n Cheezy
This dish is one of the most highly reviewed dish on Yelp at Q Restaurant and Bar. It is cheesy, well-season (I think with rosemary or something of the like), and topped with greasy tater-tots.  Lesson # 1: eat the tater-tots with the mac n cheezy (if the tater-tots are eaten separately, it’ll taste stale and not very tasty). When I had my first bite of the tater-tots, I thought, “Wow, this does not taste very good, ugh, why is this so highly reviewed and rated?” But together (mac n cheezy + tater tots) it tastes a lot better but still not “WOW!”

Slammin’ Salmon Burger with Garlic Fries
Both the burger and fries were well-cooked and well-seasoned. Instead of a regular burger bun, the salmon (+ vegetables) was placed between two slices of foccacia bread. It was mighty delicious along with superbly seasoned garlic fries.

(food was shared with a “friend”, I did not eat two dishes on my own)

July 27, 2011 Kowloon Tong Dessert Cafe
My family had just arrived in San Francisco, California the day before (July 26, 2011) and my cousins were stuck in the house (the kids of family should be let loose during vacation time). I decided that I wanted to take them out for some Asian desserts, because where my family are from (Miami, Florida) it is a rare sighting.

Waffle Ice Cream

Mango Sago (the waiter wrote down the wrong order, we ordered the mango sticky rice – but because it is unsanitary to bring back items and it would just go to waste, we were allowed to keep the mango sago and got the mango sticky rice as well) *mango sticky rice is not pictured, I forgot to take a picture
