grapefruit vs. grapes: they are practically the same size

…they always say that laughter is the best medicine, and it is indeed, especially with those that fill you with lots of warmth and joy.

kimtroneats: Why don’t they have freshly squeezed grapefruit juice? (but chuckbonesdaisies and I swear by it that kimtroneats never said grapefruit juice but rather had said grape juice)

expressivesole: Freshly squeezed grape juice?

kimtroneats: Breast feed grape juice?

chuckbonesdaisies: No, freshly squeezed grape juice?

kimtroneats: They have freshly squeezed orange juice, so..why don’t they have freshly squeezed grape juice?

expressivesole: How would they make freshly squeezed grape juice? No one has freshly squeezed grape juice!

chuckbonesdaisies: Step on them!

kimtroneats: Eww, gross!

chuckbonesdaisies: But that is how you make wine!

kimtroneats: You use the thing that you use to squeeze oranges to make orange juice!

expressivesole: How would you squeeze a grape? It’s so small!

kimtroneats: The same way you squeeze an orange, grapes and oranges are about the same size!

expressivesole: (thinking hard and comparing the size of grapes and oranges) Oranges and grapes are the same size?

We finally cleared the whole grapefruit and grape ordeal and proceed to laugh uncontrollably for five minutes. The three of us are old and hard of hearing, and plus, I feel extremely stupid for really trying to compare a grape to a grapefruit!

p.s Always a pleasure to laugh with these two old women!

missing someone…

“…isn’t about how long it’s been since you’ve seen them last,
or the amount of time since you last talked.
It’s about that very moment when you’re doing something
and you wish that they were right there beside you.”

goodbye 2011, hello 2012

Happy New Year!
Say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012.

The year 2011 ended extremely well and the year 2012 came in with smooth sailing (I couldn’t ask for anything more, seriously!). I had an extremely good person accompany me from the transition of the old year to the new year. Although, I do wish that I could have had some other favorites there with me to welcome the new year with a bang, to all those that I could not welcome the new year with, I want to say that you are still very much awesome and Happy New Year and let’s celebrate Chinese New Year’s together (January 23, 2012)!  But I want to thank someone for spending the new year with me, so here you go, thank you so much for spending the new year with me (personal enough?)!

New Years Eve started off extremely well, headed off to the the City to spend some time with a favorite of mine (mostly to exchange late Christmas presents). Ended up spending way too much time at the house and fell asleep but hey, that’s more time for me to spend with a favorite of mine. Then after I left the house, I went into running around in the City mode! Ran around the mall a couple times because I wanted a New Years Eve outfit (typical girl) but then after looking around for awhile and being clausterphobic does not help when thousands of other girls are thinking the same thing. I ended up getting some food and leaving because I did not want to wear the same outfit as someone else (so hello clothes in my closet that I haven’t worn yet and still have the tag on it). Everything worked out perfectly.

The plans for New Years Eve was the Countdown Comedy Jam by 107.7 the bone held at the Nob Hill Masonic Center (Epik High concert, anyone?). We ended up taking a taxi to the Masonic Center, we placed a call and waited 20 minutes to set one up. Lined up to get our bracelets (since we’re 21+) and grabbed some drinks (and boo hoo, they did not make mojitos, no mint leaves!). The show started at 9:00 p.m and ended at 12:00 a.m (the countdown to the new year). The jokes were extremely crude but they left me laughing till the new year. Seriously, someone ordered me a cosmopolitan for my second drink (he does not know me well enough!) haha, but I will say that it is a very pretty deep red although I wouldn’t order it for myself.

Then the countdown began, say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012. Afterwards, we rushed out of the Masonic Center and started following everyone down to the Embarcadero because we were hungry and we also got to see the firework display! I should seriously not follow a certain person that has horrible directional skills (*ahem hiking around in circles). We ended up near Ruby Skye, and let me just say that super drunk girls are not very classy looking. We ate at Chaaba, a Thai Restaurant. Then around 1:00 am we started hailing for a cab, which then took around an 1 hour to hail. But at 2:00 am we finally hailed a cab and got back home. We played with sparklers and welcomed the new year with open arms. Then we watched Top Chef (because someone is obsessed with becoming a Top Chef, and now I am obsessed with watching Top Chef as well). Then..off to bed I went.

That was my New Years Eve and New Years in a nutshell, I hope yours went as well or even better than expected.

a pre-New Years celebration

A picture speaks a thousand words:

Because getting everyone together for New Years Eve is too hard to accomplish, a few of us decided to celebrate with a pre-New Years Eve party. The night ended with us running around with sparklers and just being kids (enjoying the pre-New Years Eve celebration in the presence of the greatest people).

p.s. First time using sparklers, it is extremely fun! Why haven’t we done this before?
